Did you know that an estimated 30-50 percent of the food produced in the world goes uneaten? AND nearly 70 percent of our fresh water resources are used for agricultural purposes. (UN Report via RTT) It’s time to think about how we can eliminate waste.

After spending years in the service industry I would guess most of the waste comes from catered events, restaurants [and grocery stores]. Think about how many of us have taken home a doggie bag or left half a plate somewhere. Now it’s tough to say which is worse considering the Koch Bros are vested in producing disposable goods.
We do have some control here right? When dining out, ask the server about portion size and share bites but tip as though the tab includes an average meal per person. I prefer restaurants that include small plate options on the menu and a la carte steak houses with delicious Mac and Cheese. Events are tougher to have an impact on outside of choosing caterers that donate or find a way to reuse leftovers. Most businesses don’t do this because of liability however. This needs to change.
